SCAD Atlanta
Atlanta Celebrates Photography
Location:
SCAD Atlanta
Today – 10/5/2012
Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Event Description
Reception: Thursday, October 4 from 6 to 7 p.m.
This group exhibition features works by contemporary photographers whose constructed or manipulated interiors present varied states of mind. These artists charge their environments with a heightened sense of drama and suspense, emphasizing particular vantage points, lighting, imaginative architecture, and symbolic and often unsettling references to the human psyche. The staged spaces serve as metaphors for people's emotions, fears, and imaginings and blur boundaries between the real, the unreal, and the surreal. Featured artists include Janine Antoni, Gregory Crewdson, Sarah Hobbs, Isaac Julien, Laura Letinsky, Zwelethu Mthethwa, Lori Nix, Laurie Simmons and Mickalene Thomas.
This event is part of the Atlanta Celebrates Photography Festival.
