Contra dancing is a high-energy, social and fun community dance with roots in Ireland, Scotland, England and France. In a contra dance, parallel lines of dancers stand opposite their partners. A dancer and his or her partner form a couple. At this event, hosted by Chattahoochee Country Dancers, you can dance to live music with Appalachian, Celtic, Irish and rock 'n' roll rhythms, along with other influences. Each dance is taught and led by a dance caller. No partner or experience is needed. Come at 7:30 p.m. to learn new dances.
